Department of Time Exchange

The office was made of glass and light wood.

I was wearing a stifling business suit and was sat in a Bauhaus chair near a potted plant.

The receptionist was Asian. She hammered out keys on an antiquated typewriter. Then she stopped, looked at her desk clock, whistled, wiped her brow and began tapping the keys faster.

Near the reception desk was a glass tank filled with fish. They were made of steel.

A man came out of one of four doors near the window. He nodded a familiar nod to the Asian receptionist and began casually urinating into the glass fish tank. The fish began moving around frantically.

I watched for some time as his Johnny Cash went on...and on.

He zipped up and walked calmly back into the room.

Nothing happened for hours.
